My Studio

All artists have that spot that they covet in which they can work. An atmosphere that’s most conducive, for them anyway, to stirring the creative juices. My studio is like a refuge for me and I must admit that when I go in there, something does stir in my creative soul…so much so that I can feel butterflies in my tummy when I look around and imagine what I can do next! Like my garden, the studio is a constant work in progress. It has evolved from a craft room to an art studio through the years. And the types of art I am doing has also influenced the evolution of the space. As you will see, it is well stocked with “stuff” that would make any artist happy but there is always one thing more that I might need for the next project!!  Enjoy the tour…

I will always stop to do a gift basket for a charity event so I keep a ready supply of baskets in all sizes!

I keep some of my seasonal decorations hanging on a piece of lattice in the studio. It creates a holiday mood all year long!

The shelves are packed with paints for all media, art reference books and magazines, etc. and I really do know where to look for that scrap of tissue paper with the dots on it for a joural page I'm working on!!

From the smallest sculpure project, to the messiest collage project, I have a work space that's just perfect. A work table for sewing or projects that require me to sit down, a drafting table for sketching and a work bench that I can stand at for laying out patterns, firing up the glue gun or wood burner, etc. And plenty of open shelving for large papers and storage baskets and containers.

A corkboard above the drafting table is a handy spot for displaying the works of my little visiting artis, the Grandkids!
