This monochromatic collage is done on stretched canvass. I layered a coat of Gesso on the canvas and then textured it while wet. After it dried, I put a wash of tea colored water color over the entire surface. Then came the layering of interesting objects..vintage ephemera in the form of maps, telegram, envelope, newspapers, sheet music, etc. along with some art stamping, a butterfly wing, old black and white photos and a few batiked sentiments. When the layering was complete, a few light spays of matte finish and then a wash of mixed greens to give the whole piece an aged patina look. This piece combines elements dating from the 1920’s through the 1950’s for a romantic look back in time…
