Dining Room

Our Dining Room is not formal by any stretch of the imagination as we are very informal folks. Actually,  this room which is the turret of the house design, was supposed to be a Breakfast Room at one end of the Kitchen, with the more formal Dining Room at the far end of the Kitchen. We decided that we would prefer to have a library in that spot instead so our Dining Room with it’s 16 foot high turret ceiling started life as a Breakfast Room. It’s a challenge to have big family dinners in there but well worth the effort because it is a light filled space. Six long windows that go almost to the floor bring in the beautiful changing scenes that nature provides each season. And high up in the front wall are three round portal windows that let in sunshine and moonbeams as well! Our house has kind of an unusual floor plan. In fact, an article I wrote about it was featured in a past issue of Country Woman Magazine in the “Welcome to My Country Kitchen” department. It’s not a huge house but it is cozy and just right for our country lifestyle!
