As you can see by the backdrop of this photo, we are ready for Christmas in our house. Well, it looks like we are ready anyway. There are still many gifts to be bought and wrapped and cookies to be baked, etc. but basically, we are in pretty good shape for the holidays. Thursday, the Grand kiddies will stay over and we will build our annual gingerbread house together. Paul can’t eat the gingerbread because of his gluten allergy but Maddie would eat the whole thing if she could as she is a little carboholic! But we will build it with great pains and much love and decorate it with the candies that Paul doesn’t manage to eat when we’re not looking! Then they will take it home to show Mommy and Daddy and in a few days they will put it out for the squirrels and other creatures to enjoy. (wonder if Mr. Bear is hibernating yet?!)

With all the holiday preparations and with life rotating around a new puppy here, there hasn’t been much time for real art but that’s okay as November was nothing but art and a break is sometimes a good thing but I have been writing a lot lately and really enjoying that process as I always do. It’s (relatively) quiet in the mornings here as I get up very early and after I get little Fergus out to do his duty and feed him and watch his antics for a while, he settles down for a nap and I can write or at least think!! Maggie has chosen to stay in bed with Pop this morning. She is worn out from her “little brother” and needs a break. But soon she’ll get up and the 3-ring circus will begin as the two dogs really do love to play with each other. There are doggie toys all over the place and the puppy bed is now two beds as Fergus decided to remove the little “mattress” from the bed and have a separate perch to sit on wherever he decides to drag it.  So far, we have not had many “accidents” in the house. He is a pretty darn good boy in that respect!  He does, however, think that he is the “mayor” of the little village of houses beneath the Christmas tree and even  a spraying of Bitter Apple under the tree has not deterred him from sitting under there amongst the little houses! I think he likes the silky feeling of the tree skirt. Of course he goes into his crate when we need to go out or when Mom just needs to get something done without her shadow!  So that’s life here in the country these days. Life is good…

You lucky girl! Retired, looking awesome, ready for Christmas AND a new puppy!! Life just doesn’t get any better. Little Fergus is precious as is Maggie. Your writing is beautiful and I can envision your house full of toys and puppy antics. I’m hoping to have some of them, myself, in the very near future. I think Mylo needs a little sister.
